Who we are
Archimedes Blocks is a wooden toy manufacturer based in Yunhe, Lishui, Zhejiang — the county that produces most of China's wooden toys. We make plank-style building blocks: flat wooden pieces with no connectors, sold in sets from 50 to 2,000 pieces, in natural wood and water-based colour finishes.
We supply three kinds of customer: retailers and distributors who buy our standard sets, brands who want their own product built to their drawing, and importers who need private-label packaging on an existing set. Roughly half of our output is OEM work.
What we make
- Natural wood series — unfinished-look planks in beech, pine and rubberwood, sanded and sealed
- Colour series — water-based painted planks, colour-fast and EN71-3 tested
- Creative shape series — half-round, triangle and pillar pieces that extend the building possibilities
- Accessories — cotton storage bags, wooden boxes, printed instruction cards
Every set can be packed in a colour box, a printed carton or a fabric bag, with your artwork and your barcode.
How we control quality
Wood is kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture content before machining. That range matters: blocks that ship wetter will bow in a dry warehouse, and the bow only shows up after the customer opens the box. Thickness tolerance is held to ±0.3 mm, because plank structures depend on pieces being consistent rather than merely similar.
Finishes are water-based and non-toxic. Finished sets are tested against EN71-1 (mechanical), EN71-2 (flammability) and EN71-3 (heavy metal migration) for Europe, and against ASTM F963 and CPSIA for the United States. Test reports are issued by product and colourway, so a report for a natural finish does not cover a painted one — we quote the report number and date for whatever you are buying.
What has changed recently
- The colour series moved from solvent to water-based coatings, which removed the solvent smell on opening and simplified import compliance.
- Set sizes were restructured around 100, 200 and 500 pieces, because those are the sizes buyers actually reorder.
- Carton design was changed so the inner divider holds the planks flat; the previous design allowed movement in transit and caused chipped edges.
- Pre-shipment inspection now photographs every carton configuration rather than one sample per order.
